Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and how to ask us to delete it. In plain English, because a policy nobody can read is not a policy.
Who we are
Ask the Turtle LLC, a nonprofit fundraising consultancy in Boston, Massachusetts. You can reach a real person at letstalk@asktheturtle.com or (617) 913-9611.
What we collect
| What | When | Who else sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Your name, email, organization and message | Only if you use the contact form or email us | Squarespace, which hosts the site and stores form submissions. We do not add you to a mailing list for writing to us. |
| Which pages get visited, roughly from where, on what kind of device | Every visit | Google Analytics. It tells us a page was read, not who read it. No advertising, no retargeting, no profile of you. |
| Whatever the booking form asks | Only if you book a conversation | Google Calendar, whose own terms apply alongside ours. |
We keep messages while the conversation is live and a reasonable time after, in case you come back to us.
What we never do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your details. Not to anyone, not ever.
- We do not run advertising or retargeting pixels.
- We do not add people to mailing lists without them asking.
- We do not share your inquiry with other consultants or vendors.
Cookies, and how to switch the analytics off
Two kinds. One is optional.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Session and security cookies | Squarespace | Keeps the site working: page delivery, form submission, fraud prevention. The site cannot function without these. |
_ga, _ga_… | Google Analytics | Counts visits and tells us which pages get read. This is the only optional one. |
Turn the analytics off right here
Most policies send you off to your browser settings. This button just does it.
Stored as one preference in your browser, so set it again if you clear your data or switch device. To block trackers everywhere rather than just here, use your browser's tracking protection.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email letstalk@asktheturtle.com and say which you want. We will do it, and we will not ask you to justify the request.
If you are in a place with specific data protection rights, such as the UK or the European Union, those rights apply here too and the same email address is how you use them.
Children and changes
This site is for people running nonprofits, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If we change this policy we will update the date below, and if a change matters to someone who has already written to us we will tell them directly.
